Nouns of assemblage

Have you ever heard of a tower of giraffes, or a business of ferrets.? No...well let me introduce you to the nouns of assemblage. Most people use them every day, in fact you probably don’t even know you are using them. We commonly use them to describe a group of animals, Herd of sheep. But they can apply to other things, a group of crows… a murder, a group of ants… an army of ants, A group of jelly fish…. A smack. But nobody today would go into the sea and say wow look there is a smack of jellyfish.

So what are they all about and how did these names come into existence. All of this was made up in the late 1400 early 1500. It was made up from some gentlemen who meet regularly to discuss such matters. This ended up as a chapter in the book Saint Albans, this book that was published in 1486. The chapter in the book was called companies of  beasties and fowlies. I really don’t know why it is a pretty weird name.

But our everyday animals have them too like cats are called glaring or a pounce. And a group of fish is called a school of fish or a schole i will explain that a bit later: But these are just a couple of our everyday animals.

But Some animals have been given some very perquilor ones. All of these names are made up for a reason for example: a smack of jellyfish. It is an old english term for a little taste which is like a small sting so that's maybe where a smack of jellyfish is from. Because jellyfish do not stay in big groups or maybe not a group at all because as soon as they get pulled into currents of the waves they get pulled different ways or even onto the beach.  Interestingly jellyfish can not contact each other. It just makes it tricky to stay in a group so maybe a noun of assemble is not necessary For these animals. One that most people know is a parliament of owls maybe because they are wise ? Here is another one: a group of fish is called a school of fish or a schole that was partly made up from school because a group of fish swim together and move in a synchronized manner for protection from predators. And they have to stay together otherwise they could get lost very easily. A schole is also a dutch word.  Most animals do have them but some don't.

Also did you know that a group of dogs is called a pack because they stick together and don’t leave other dogs or humans' sides that is why they are so obedient to us and why they do not like us going anywhere without them. There is another name for it as well it is called a litter a litter meaning group of puppys and all so for some other animal names like cubs and kittens. This one is more common than others.

If you have never heard of nouns of assemblage when I began my speech today you can now say that you have learnt something new today and hopefully you will start using these words a bit more in your day to day life now that you are aware of them. Even if you do not use the most perquilor one like a bask of crocodiles or a business of ferrets or a dazzle of zebras, one of my favorites . Thank you.

We were learning is how to leave a digital footprint clean because you do not want people to know to much about you

found it really hard is to do the digital footprint and not to put things on our blog that is not good.

I found it really easy it doing the picture of myself. and getting the blog posts on my blog from help of my older teacher and my new teacher.

next time i think that i could do a bit better on my blog coments.
